Since its inception in 1993, the Arizona Recycling Coalition (AZRC) Grants Program has awarded more than $40,000 in funding to nonprofit organizations, local governments and tribal nations to significantly increase recycling and divert what is taken to the landfill. AZRC is a nonprofit organization of professionals and citizens pledged to promote recycling efforts in private, public and nonprofit sectors throughout Arizona.


Recycling is an important part of our community; it conserves natural resources, helps the environment and creates a more sustainable Arizona. The intent of the Grants Program is to develop new measurable recycling initiatives that significantly improve the recovery of recyclables. AZRC will award up to $5,000 in grant funding to a winning applicant.


 Applicants as defined:

  • In the recycling industry and engaged in the collection, transporting, processing, marketing, education/outreach of recyclable materials
  • Is a nonprofit, government agency, school, entrepreneur, or a tribal nation. Must provide proof on nonprofit status.
  • AZRC member in good standing. If not a member, grant funding will be used for a one year membership for the winning applicant.
  • Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to sustaining the project beyond the grant term and explain how that commitment will be maintained.

 Program eligibility as defined:

  • Funding for a project that result in a measurable reduction of materials that would otherwise would be land filled.


 We review applications based on the following rubric:

  1. Impact: The impact you will have on recycling-related efforts in the state if your organization received this grant.
  2. Project Sustainability: How this project will continue operating after AZRC funds have been depleted.  
  3. Plausibility: The likelihood that the goals outlined in this proposal can be completed.
  4. Professionalism: Your level of professionalism in completing this application.

 The grant application can be submitted to [email protected] as a Word document or PDF. All applicants will receive confirmation of their electronic submission within 72 business hours of receipt.

The grant award announcement will be made at the Arizona Recycling Coalition Luncheon on October 23, 2019. 

If you win the grant, we request that you and your organization conduct a video interview with us. Your story and video help us attract additional donations and funds, which allows us to continue our grant and scholarship program. It also shows our members and the general public what tremendous and innovative work is you are doing in Arizona. We'll play this video at our annual conference and post it on our website and social media channels.
